Using only monochromatic materials; charcoal (in all its forms), graphite, china markers and alcohol ink on the smooth, non-absorbent surface of Yupo paper makes for an exciting image. The work inhabits a space in-between drawing and painting and it's impossible to fully anticipate what will happen as the layers go on. I have found a delicious abandonment here, creating a space for the muse to step in when the human artist finally relinquishes the need to control every mark. 🖤
