After dipping into Dante's Inferno, Canto 3 in particular gave me an idea of how to shift this painting out of the liminal space it occupied. I was pretty much in Hell's vestibule myself anyway, not choosing one way or another. I used my handprints and fingers to redo the background, which perhaps adds a darker emotional tone. It also shifts my original concept but that's okay; the original idea was born in a world that no longer exists
