When I am capturing the human body on to a flat surface, I don't think in a 2 dimensional way - I engage as a sculptor, letting my minds eye travel across all the dimensions of a body in space, way beyond the limitations of the reference image; my gaze is often that of a lover as I imagine my hands feeling the weight and curve of the flesh I'm creating, feeling it respond and turn under my hand.
